Pearl is your personal evidence curator for information relevant to your health questions. Pearl draws from high-quality sources like peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines, and insights from the Pregnancy Evidence Project.
Are you able to provide medical advice? Is Pearl like a doctor?
No, Pearl is not providing medical advice or instructions to you. Think of Pearl as a pregnancy-specific curator of information sources - you can use Pearl to explore, discover, and engage with data and information at your own pace and direction, but it should not replace the guidance of your care providers and medical team. Feel free to share useful studies or information from Pearl with your care team to start a conversation or help inform your questions!
Who can use Pearl?
Pearl is best suited to support people who are currently pregnant, actively trying to conceive, and recently postpartum. Creating an account is free, and you can optionally specify during your onboarding what your current relationship to pregnancy is for Pearl to provide more relevant and contextualized information for your specific situation.
Are my searches private?
Yes. Your searches are private and are not attributed to any of your personally identifiable information, such as your name, date of birth, or contact information. We may use aggregated and anonymous insights from searches across all of our users (e.g. prevalence of common search topics or keywords) to improve our product and share trends with users, but will never share any individual searches or identifiable search terms. Your searches are never used by Zenith for any marketing, advertising or commercial purposes.
Is my data private? Where is my data being stored?
Yes, privacy is core to everything we do at Zenith Health. Zenith uses HIPAA-compliant cloud services to store and maintain your data (HIPAA is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act – a federal law that sets strict rules for how health information must be protected).
Additionally, we use multiple layers of encryption to protect your data, and have strict policies regarding access to data, aimed at ensuring your data is secure and protected at all times. For more information on data privacy and protections, please review our Privacy Policy.
Where did the name Pearl come from?
When we were naming our evidence discovery tooling, we wanted a name that represented our mission and our ethos as a company. We landed on Pearl - or Pregnancy Evidence And Real-world Learnings – which we thought was a perfect fit to embody our goals and what we’re all about! Plus, we expect that Pearl will be able to dive in and discover many pearls of evidence for our users.
What is the Pregnancy Evidence Project?
The Pregnancy Evidence Project is an initiative aiming to fill in the huge data gaps that exist in pregnancy health today. It is an observational research project designed to gather real-world data on experiences, health outcomes, and various exposures (e.g., medications) during pregnancy. This project aims to improve the availability of evidence-backed information to support informed healthcare decisions for all pregnant individuals.
Can I participate in the Pregnancy Evidence Project?
People who are at least 18 years old, reside in the United States, and are either currently pregnant or have been pregnant within the last 12 months are eligible to participate.
Why should I consider participating?
Participating in the Pregnancy Evidence Project is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful change in maternal and infant health. Today, far too many questions in pregnancy go unanswered due to a lack of data and research. By sharing your experience, you can help build the foundation that future pregnant individuals, researchers, and healthcare providers need to make more informed decisions. Every data point brings us closer to a world where pregnancy care is guided by evidence, not guesswork. Additionally, you may learn about your own health and benefit from some of the insights learned from the aggregated and de-identified data being collected across the Pregnancy Evidence Project.
How much time does it take to participate in the Pregnancy Evidence Project? What do I need to do?
If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete a handful of surveys assessing your demographics, general health, symptoms, medication use, and pregnancy experiences at multiple time points during and following your pregnancy. The minimum commitment to participate is responding to trimester-level surveys, and the initial baseline questionnaire. We do not expect any of the surveys to take more than ~5-10 minutes to complete. You will also be asked to share access to your health records for the purpose of the research, which we will request from the healthcare provider(s) supporting your pregnancy. You will always have access to any of your own health data that you’ve shared with the research project.
What is a patient registry?
An observational study is a type of research that involves collection and analysis of information about participants’ health, behaviors, or experiences without asking them to change anything about their course of care. A patient registry is a data set that can enable observational research on a patient cohort or therapeutic area of interest to researchers - in this case, maternal and neonatal health. Real-world data captured by a patient registry can help describe what happens in real life, compare different treatments, or look at safety. Observational studies are carefully designed to give useful evidence about how different factors—like medications or health conditions—might affect health outcomes.
Researchers will conduct observational studies to observe and analyze information that participants choose to share — such as medical history, symptoms, medications, and outcomes — to better understand health during pregnancy. Participation in observational research or patient registries will not affect your medical care.
How are you protecting my data?
Data privacy and confidentiality are of the utmost importance to Zenith, and are woven into every part of our platform. Your data is protected by multiple mechanisms - Zenith uses HIPAA-compliant cloud services to store and maintain your data. Additionally, we use multiple layers of encryption to protect your data, and have strict policies regarding access to data, aimed at ensuring your data is secure and protected at all times.
Who can see my information? How?
Your information will be kept private and secure within the Pregnancy Evidence Project. Only authorized research personnel will have access to your information, for the purposes of research, quality assurance, and data analysis.
The information about you that we share with researchers will not contain information like your name, phone number, email, address, date of birth or other information that can be easily used to identify you.
We will never disclose your information for insurance, advertising, or to any third parties not related to research without your express consent and approval.
If I opt-in, can I decide to stop participating in the future?
Yes. At any point, you may choose to stop your participation by emailing the project team at evidenceproject@zenithhealth.io.
Can I choose to use Pearl but not participate in the Pregnancy Evidence Project? Do I have to use Pearl if I want to participate in the Pregnancy Evidence Project?
Yes! Participation in the Pregnancy Evidence Project is entirely voluntary and independent from your ability to use Pearl for information search and discovery. Conversely, using Pearl and engaging in search functionality is not a prerequisite for participation and enrollment in the Pregnancy Evidence Project.

You can click “Forgot Password?” on the login page located at zenithhealth.app and we will email you a link to reset your password. For security reasons, this link will expire in 24 hours.
